The Conference will explore practical ways to provide both 'challenging' and 'accessible' learning opportunities for high ability pupils with SEND, with additional focus in 2026 on those Pupils with ADHD and Attachment based difficulties.

From Subtle Signs to Next Steps: ADHD Support
Sam Smith: A Registered Mental Health Nurse and Advanced Nurse Practitioner with over 30 years’ experience, Sam specialises in ADHD assessment and appropriate prescribing for children and young people.
Understanding School Avoidance
Nova Bovaird: A qualified Social Worker who currently works as the Clinical Service Lead for the Mental Health Support Team in Schools (MHST) in the Dorset area, including Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP).
The Autism Assessment Pathway
Dr Richard Azzawi-White: Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Director at Haven Medical Centre.
Strategies to Support Spelling with High Ability Learners
Penny Frampton: Specialist Teacher of SEND - A practical and extremely relevant workshop delivered by the Specialist Teacher for SEND and SEND New Pupil Coordinator at Canford School, this workshop will explore a range of different approaches to support all pupils with improving their spelling.
Implementing Whole School Wellbeing
Delivered by Melissa Clinton (Canford’s Head of Wellbeing), this workshop will explore the creation and management of a Whole School approach to Wellbeing, including Canford’s award-winning Sleep Programme and Peer Mentoring programme.
Supporting SEND Students into University Life
Delivered by Gabby Burridge and Sam Tresman (University of Bournemouth), this workshop explores how to prepare neurodivergent and SEND students for the transition from sixth form to university. We’ll cover the key differences in support, what’s needed to secure access arrangements and DSA, and how professionals can help students build independence and self-advocacy for a successful start in higher education.
Developing Approaches to Mindfulness in Schools
Delivered by specialist teacher for SEND and ELSA Pagan Bishop, this workshop will cover practical and easy-to-apply approaches delivering a Mindfulness programme in School.
Pupil Voice and Neurodiversity
Naomi Miles (Specialist teacher for SEND) will explain the creation and development of the Open Minded Group at Canford, an initiative specifically designed to provide a voice in School for those pupils diagnosed with Neurodiversity. There will also be a presentation by the current pupils, detailing their experience of being a pupil identified with SEND at Canford School and explain the support they have received.
Assessment for Maths Teaching Intervention
Workshop based around the MDA book release - Rob Jennings - Author of the 'Maths and Dyscalculia Assessment Book' and co-founder of the Dyscalculia Network.
Dyscalculia and Maths Difficulties
A more general talk about definitions, how it manifests itself and strategies to help by Rob Jennings - Author of the 'Maths and Dyscalculia Assessment Book' and co-founder of the Dyscalculia Network
Supporting Students with Tics and Tourette's
Parent, HsM and Specialist Teacher of SEND, Hannah Ryan looks at supporting and often misunderstood difficulty from a range of different perspectives.
